Trip to Blackpool

from a member of Liaisons

A group of members set out on Saturday 24th October 2009 with a member of Liaisons at the helm, doing the driving. Thirty minutes into the trip a member announced Breakfast and they all tucked into hot dogs. Real Cumberland sausages in buttered French bread complete with tomato and brown sauce. They all died and went to heaven this was washed down with as much tea, and coffee as they could consume and this carried on through out the whole of the journey, there and back. It was so lovely to stop at the service stations, just to take a convenience break!! The main reason of the trip was to see the lights, the ballroom, the tower and the new sea organ.

OK well, this is where it all went downhill. Since they had chosen the half term weekend for their trip, the world and his wife were there and they had been advised that to travel the mile and see the lights would take three hours. This would have bitten into their evening drinking session so not too much discussion on that decision. So lights were off the menu. The tower was closed due to hurricane winds. The ballroom had been hired for a private function. They travelled several stops on the bus to see the 'Sea Organ' but it stayed silent due to the tide coming in or going out or perhaps it was just a Silent night.

It was not all bad they found a lovely restaurant where they enjoyed a superb three course meal with lots of lovely alcohol. Not sure if it was the food or the beer but after consuming both  ~  the rain had stopped but the cyclone had started.  They hired a taxi to get back and the force of the hurricane prevented the taxi door from opening.

To summarise,      Blackpool??,       who knows,   who cares. They had a fantastic weekend.  Some games, a rubbish quiz, a great birthday celebration, the obligatory song "Didn't we have a lovely time the day we went to Blackpool" and so much laughter was all part of a fabulous weekend.  Those who set out to enjoy the weekend did so, what more can you ask.  Would they do it again, like a shot...... but not out of a taxi.

Theatre Trip - A Life Is A Dream

from the Editor of the Website

Four members of Liaisons and a couple of friends set out to enjoy a trip to London to see the play 'A Life Is A Dream.' Three people who went to Beaconsfield station missed their train due to the fact that the road and the car park were closed, although they did make it to the play on time.

The play was excellent, although next time we will sit in different seats, as the majority of us could not put our feet on the floor, but then again the seats were only £15.00 so what do we expect. A few of us went to a lovely Mexican in Langley street, whereby we enjoyed excellent food and service.

We made our way home by train, but my friend was not able to get off the train in High Wycombe quick enough, so we ended up in Princes Risborough, whereby we met a knight in shining armour, yes unbelievable they do still exist who helped us and we made our way back to our respective homes.

Les Boules/La Petanque

Seven of us turned up for this french game at a local country pub in Bovingdon Green, near Marlow. Although we had the rules these were not strictly followed by the letter, but we all had a fun time, expecially when we were knocking the opponents; boules further from the couchenet. This was then followed by a meal.

Hog Roast

A member of Liaisons organised a Hog Roast Party at his house, which was a great success. There was a band provided and we also had a Liaisons member playing the keyboard. Plus quite a bit of dancing.
