Walk from Wycombe Marsh

Brush off those New Years Days cobwebs with a walk around the Rural side of High Wycombe including the lovely Rye park with its boating lake.

We meet at the free car park by the netball courts on Kingsmead recreation ground opposite the B&Q Diy store. From the A40 coming from Wycombe turn right into Kings road opposite The Synter car showroom and then left into Fennells Road, the car park is at the end of this road.

Meet at 10:45 for a prompt 11:00am start.

Monday 1st January

Food and Games Afternoon at Lindsey's

Come along to my place, and I will provide us with some food (probably chilli and a veggie alternative) followed by some fun party games - nothing too boisterous there's not enough room!

For those of you going on the walk you can change at mine or go home in between.

I will be there from 2pm onwards

Please let me know if you plan to come so I can get the catering right.

Small charge to cover food (£5?) but BYOB.

Plenty of parking outside the shops in Furlong Road, Bourne End.

I'll put balloons out to show you where I am.

Music and Dancing at the Ivy Leaf Club, Maidenhead

Enjoy an inexpensive evening and a good atmosphere, dancing the night away to popular music played by 'Creative Covers'.

Sunday 7th January

Walk from the Spade Oak Bourne End.

Join us for a walk taking in a section of the Thames Path and up to Flackwell Heath and through lovely Little Marlow and the beautiful Spade Oak nature reserve.

We meet in the car park at the end of Coldmoorholme Lane, just past the Spade Oak pub.

Coldmoorholme Lane is off the Marlow/Bourne End Road.

Arrive at 10:45 for a prompt 11:00am start.

Meet at 11:15 in Cliveden Woodland car park, Cliveden Rd, Taplow.

Doing the green trail, stone studded footpath classed as easy with great views over Thames and valley.

Afterward at the Feathers pub opposite Cliveden main entrance.

If you are not an NT member there may be a parking fee.

Please wear sturdy footwear.

Burns Night Supper and Ceilidh at Windsor

To be held at the New Windsor Community Centre, Hanover Way, Windsor. Starts 6:15 for 6:45 pm. Cost £29.50.

Come and celebrate the birthday of Robbie Burns at this very traditional night organised by The Scots' Society of St. Andrew - Slough, Windsor and District.

If you would like to wear traditional Scottish dress you will not look out of place.

The Legion is in the centre of the village on Common Road near the community centre and Sainsbury's, there is some car parking on site but street parking is available.

No ticket event, just turn up, you'll be asked to make a £2 donation on entry. Music at 8:30.

Walk from Dorney Garden Centre

Join us for a flat 4 miles walk taking in the River Thames and views of Windsor Castle.

We meet in the car park by Dorney Court Garden Centre.

Directions: go along the A4 between Maidenhead and Slough until you get to the Sainsburys Roundabout. Turn right, if coming from Maidenhead or left if coming from Slough, down Lake End Road, go over the Motorway and then turn right by the sign for Dorney Court Kitchen Garden (formerly the Walled Garden Centre) and then immediately left again.

PLEASE NOTE there is often a car boot sale on the A4 near Taplow so allow extra time if coming that way.

Dancing to the Dolomites at Marlow Legion

The Dolomites (Toledos in previous edition have changed their name) are a well renowned 4 piece Rock and Roll Pop band playing music from the late 50s to the mid 60s so expect songs from the Beatles, Stones, Elvis, Chuck Berry, Marty Wide, The Monkees, Johnny Cash etc etc.

This is a pay on the door event.

Walk across Winters Hill from Bourne End

Plenty of parking outside the shops at the end of Furlong Road. That is over Cookham bridge and take turning on the right just before the tyre & exhaust place or from Bourne End centre follow signs to Cookham and turn left just after the hill.

We will walk along the river and take an angle across the hill approx 4 miles.

Meet at 10:45 for a prompt 11am start.

1 Hour Flat Amblers Walk from Jenners Cafe, Maidenhead

Meet at 11:00 at Jenners Cafe car park Ray Mead Rd. for a hot bacon butty/ Breakfast and then walk that off alongside the Thames across Boulters Lock and around Ray Mead Island.

We will set off for the stroll no later than 11:30.

Pay for 2 hours parking (£1.50) and if we fancy more refreshments after the walk we'll pop down to the Thames Hotel, with free parking. For more info:

Sunday 18th February Walk from Cookham Dean

This is an undulating 5 mile walk taking in the lovely village of Cookham Dean Cookham Rise and Winter Hill.

Take the A4094 Bourne End to Maidenhead Road, at Cookham turn into High St (B4447), keep on this road through the moor, the pound (narrow bit) straight over mini roundabout, over level crossing through to the end of the village. Turn second left into Hills Lane (at gate that appears in the middle of road), keep on this road for about 1 mile.

Park outside The Jolly Farmer on the road at 10:45 for a prompt 11am start.

Walk from West Wycombe

This walk takes in the villages of West Wycombe and Downley. West Wycombe is on the A40 High Wycombe to Oxford road. Go through the village and turn right into Chorley Road, the entrance to the garden centre (although no longer a garden centre) can be found on the left after 100yds.

Meet at 10:45 for a prompt 11am start, in the 'garden centre' car park.

Highclere Castle Visit

I am organising a group visit to the renowned Highclere Castle, of Downton Abbey fame, near Newbury.

The £21 ticket for over 60s includes the garden, castle and Tutankhamen exhibition.

The plan will be to car share there and maybe stop for late brunch/lunch on route.

There is a restaurant on site so if you wanted lunch or a cream tea at £30 a head you need to book ahead. The afternoon ticket allows early access to the gardens but not to the castle or exhibition until after 1pm. This is proving to be a very popular event so please contact me asap.

'Cliff' and the Bourne Again Shadows at Kenton Theatre

Another chance to see this fabulous act performing all your favourite Cliff and Shadows hits in one nostalgic evening. They don't look like Cliff and the Shads but they certainly sound like them as you will know if you have seen them before.

We have 7 tickets at £18 each they are front row balcony which is a great view at this lovely old theatre.

Weekend Away at Norton Grange Isle of Wight 2018
